From Deák Square, a couple of steps apart from the apartment, you can meet young people with flyers about these sightseeing opportunities; furthermore, a stop of the bus tour is near the apartment as well.

Shall you wish to discover Budapest on foot, we recommend the Free Budapest Walking Tours Team, whose tours start from stations near the apartment: from the Basilica every day at 2.30 p.m. and from Vörösmarty Square every day at 10.30 a.m and 3.30 p.m. These walking tours are free of charge; they are based on the tips given by the satisfied consumers.

The guests of the City Apartment Budapest can easily discover a lot of interesting sights of downtown Budapest for themselves, on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. (In downtown Budapest we do not recommend driving due to the high traffic), but they don’t have to go far even if when they want to see the sights in organized frames.

Nothing is more pleasant after a tiresome day of sightseeing in Budapest or excursion, than a dinner in a jolly and friendly atmosphere. In downtown Budapest one finds restaurants upon restaurants, thus the guests of the Apartment can easily find one that fits their requests. To help choose, we recommend the following dinning placed for our guests:

Nosztalgia Restauran

Nosztalgia Restaurant is based on traditional Hungarian cuisine and is only a couple of minutes apart from the Budapest City Apartment in the October 6. Street starting from the intersection of Erzsébet Square and József Attila Street, with extraordinary weekly meals and personal service, in the heart of downtown Budapest.

Merlin Restaurant

If the dear guest of the Budapest City Apartment steps out of the apartment and turns right, the Erzsébet Square opens into Károly körút. After the church the second Street to the right is Gerlóczy Street, where one can fond, in number 4., the restaurant of Merlin Theater, which awaits all tourists in Budapest with tasty meals, no matter if it is a light breakfast, a nutrient lunch or an intimate dinner with a cultural theme. Aranybárány restaurant

The restaurant is in Harmincad Street, between Erzsébet and Vörösmarty Squares, a couple of steps apart from the apartment. They serve traditional Hungarian food (including vegetarians as well.) They have one of the best selection of wines in their exclusive-atmosphered restaurant. You can have dinner with gypsy music  in the evenings, and should you be in a mood to drink, you don’t even have to call a taxi to get back to the apartment.

Several of the day-groceries are open in the night as well, for example the little shop at the intersection of József Attila Street and Erzsébet Square, but also the MATCH awaits its customers non-stop. With the second you only must be aware, that they close the cashiers for an hour around midnight, and – according to Murphy’s Law one will always want to shop at that time… J

In the immediate surrounding of the flat of the City Apartment there are numerous little grocery shops, these are usually somewhat costlier than the bigger ones. In this area of downtown Budapest, near your apartment, two of the main grocery shop lines can be found: MATCH and CBA, both only at a couple of minutes walk from the apartment. The former is right on the corner of Király Street, walking on the Károly körút towards Astoria, the second is 100 meters away in the same direction.

In the downtown surroundings of the apartment there are many grocery shops, bigger and smaller as well, since this area has a central role in both the day and the night life of Budapest. Below the guests of City Apartment will find some useful advices regarding the shopping.
